Course Overview
This comprehensive curriculum is designed to unify plant operations, maintenance planning, and procurement teams on the SAP S/4HANA platform. By the end of this course, the workforce will be equipped to manage the entire asset lifecycle—from initiating maintenance requests on the shop floor to planning complex preventive schedules and managing the resulting procurement and inventory requirements.
Module 1: SAP Fiori Fundamentals (Common Foundation)
Goal: Ensure all team members, regardless of role, are proficient in navigating the modern SAP interface.
- Fiori navigation fundamentals, filter usage, and personalization options.
- Understanding common terminology and process sequences in S/4HANA.
- Launchpad best practices: Setting favorites, managing groups, and removing clutter.
- Understanding Fiori App behavior vs. traditional GUI transactions.
- Customizing role-based tiles for individual workflow efficiency.
Module 2: SAP PM Overview & Organizational Structure
Goal: Provide the “big picture” of how Plant Maintenance fits within the business organization and integrates with other departments.
- Core components of the SAP PM module.
- Organizational Structure defined in the system:
- Planning Plant
- Maintenance Planning Plant
- Planner Groups
- High-level introduction to Technical Objects (assets).
- The End-to-End PM Process Flow: Notification -> Work Order -> Planned Order -> Material Issue -> Job Completion -> Close of Business.
- Key Integration Points Overview:
- Integration with Purchasing (MM) for spare parts and services.
- Integration with FICO (Costing) for maintenance budgeting.
- Integration with QM (Quality Management) for calibration inspections.
- Integration with HR (Human Resources) for labor tracking.
Module 3: Technical Objects (Master Data Management)
Goal: Master the creation and maintenance of the data representing physical assets in the system.
- Functional Locations: Creating, changing, and displaying hierarchical asset structures.
- Equipment: Managing individual asset records and histories.
- Bill of Materials (BOMs):
- Equipment BOMs (Spare parts lists specific to a machine).
- Material BOMs (Standard assemblies).
- Material Master: Viewing spare parts data relevant to maintenance.
- Work Centers: Defining where maintenance work is performed and by whom.
- Task Lists: Creating standard procedures for repetitive maintenance jobs.
Module 4: Maintenance Processing (Corrective & Breakdown)
Goal: Manage the lifecycle of reactive maintenance work.
- Notifications: Creating, changing, and processing requests for maintenance (Breakdown vs. General requests).
- Maintenance Orders: Converting notifications into actionable work orders.
- Order Processing Lifecycle:
- Scheduling labor and materials.
- Releasing orders for execution.
- Confirming time and material usage (Order Completion).
- Understanding system statuses (CRTD, REL, TECO).
- Technical and business closing of work orders.
Module 5: Preventive & Planned Maintenance
Goal: Shift from reactive to proactive maintenance using system scheduling.
- Utilizing General Task Lists for standard preventive actions.
- Creating and managing Maintenance Plans (Time-based or Performance-based strategies).
- Scheduling Maintenance Plans to automatically generate inspection or service orders.
Module 6: Procurement & Inventory Integration (MM Integration)
Goal: Deep dive into the supply chain aspect of maintenance – ensuring parts are available when needed.
- Purchase Requisitions (PRs): How maintenance orders automatically generate PRs for non-stock items or external services.
- Monitoring PR status from within the maintenance work order.
- Follow-on Functions (The Procurement Cycle):
- Creation of Purchase Orders (POs) from PRs.
- Goods Receipt (GR) against POs.
- Issuing goods directly to Maintenance Orders.
- Reservations: Managing stock reservations created by maintenance orders.
- Inventory Management: Monitoring stock levels, current bin locations, and global inventory visibility across the organization.
Module 7: Standard Reporting & Analytics
Goal: Leverage standard SAP reports to monitor work, analyze backlogs, and track asset history.
- Master Data Reports: List of Technical Components and Work Centers within the plant.
- Operational Status Reports:
- Monitoring open Notifications.
- Monitoring open Maintenance Orders and their statuses.
- Backlog analysis reports.
- Material & Procurement Reports:
- Stock Overview Report (checking availability).
- Component Lists required for active maintenance orders.
- Tracking status of Purchase Requisitions related to PM.
