A practical, process-centered SAP S/4HANA Asset Management course for aspiring PM/EAM functional users, maintenance planners, power users, and junior functional consultants. It prioritizes repeatable corrective and preventive maintenance work in the SAP system—technical objects, maintenance requests/notifications, orders, planning, execution, confirmation, completion, and maintenance plans—rather than attempting deep implementation configuration or specialized asset-management submodules.

Establish the organizational and technical-object foundation learners need to identify an asset correctly and trace future maintenance history against it.

Independent practice

Build reliable technical-object navigation and master-data judgment before learners begin recording maintenance requests and planning work.

  • Navigate the SAP Fiori launchpad and locate the key Asset Management apps or equivalent assigned system transactions.
  • Explain the relationship among maintenance plant, planning plant, planner group, work center, functional location, and equipment for the supplied plant scenario.
  • Create or revise a functional-location hierarchy and create equipment assigned to the correct location.
  • Review equipment-related material/BOM, work-center, warranty, measuring-point, and document relationships; identify which information is master data versus transactional history.
  • Prepare a structured trouble ticket with screenshots, business context, expected result, actual result, and relevant object/document numbers if system access or authorizations block an exercise.

Ready for the next session when: Learners can select the correct functional location or equipment, explain its organizational responsibility, and identify the essential master data needed to create a high-quality maintenance request.

2 Corrective Maintenance: Request, Notification, Planning, and Release5 live hours · 18 practice hours

Teach learners to convert a credible maintenance issue into a planned, released maintenance order with the resources and controls needed for execution.

Independent practice

Make the request-to-order process repeatable for both normal corrective work and urgent work, including diagnosis of missing or incomplete planning data.

  • Create a maintenance request/notification for an equipment malfunction using the correct reference object, priority, damage/cause information, dates, and attachments where available.
  • Screen and improve an intentionally incomplete notification so that a maintenance planner can act on it.
  • Create a maintenance order from a notification; enter operations, work center, planned labor, components, external-service requirement example, dates, and required documents.
  • Check order status and planning completeness, then release the order after resolving a deliberately introduced material, date, or work-center issue.
  • Run one emergency or simplified-work scenario and explain why it follows a different path from the standard corrective process.

Ready for the next session when: Learners can explain and perform the standard corrective-maintenance path from request/notification through a released, executable maintenance order.

3 Maintenance Execution, Confirmation, Completion, and History5 live hours · 18 practice hours

Enable learners to execute the released order accurately, record labor and material consumption, close the work appropriately, and use the resulting maintenance history.

Develop confidence in the operational records that make maintenance history, cost visibility, and future planning trustworthy.

  • Execute a released maintenance order using the assigned technician or planner workflow, including material withdrawal or simulated goods issue where the training system permits.
  • Enter operation/labor confirmations and notification technical findings; distinguish planned from actual work and materials.
  • Set technical completion only after verifying that required confirmations and documentation are complete; identify why an order cannot yet be completed in an exception scenario.
  • Close the notification/order in the appropriate sequence and review the maintenance history created for the technical object.
  • Trace the high-level integration touchpoints with inventory/materials and cost collection, and explain which issues require MM or FI/CO support.

Ready for the next session when: Learners can complete a corrective-maintenance order without losing the technical and actual-work information needed for history, analysis, and preventive maintenance.

4 Preventive Maintenance: Task Lists, Plans, Measurements, and Scheduling5 live hours · 18 practice hours

Enable learners to establish and operate maintainable preventive-maintenance plans that generate the correct work at the correct time or usage threshold.

  • Create or adapt a general, equipment, or functional-location task list with operations, work center, durations, components, and documents.
  • Create and schedule a single-cycle time-based maintenance plan that calls an order or notification according to the assigned scenario.
  • Create a basic strategy-based plan and explain the relationship among maintenance strategy, package, task list, maintenance item, and call object.
  • Record a measurement document against a measuring point/counter and explain its role in performance-based maintenance.
  • Review a generated call or due list, identify why an expected call did not occur, and correct the relevant date, scheduling, counter, or status data.

Ready for the next session when: Learners can build and schedule a preventive-maintenance scenario and can connect generated work back to the corrective-order execution skills already practiced.

5 Operational Analytics, Capstone Processing, and Project Readiness5 live hours · 21.3 practice hours

Consolidate the complete corrective and preventive maintenance workflow, teach learners to use maintenance history and embedded analytics at an operational level, and prepare them to explain their work in a project or interview context.

Consolidate all workflows through realistic repetition, evidence-based troubleshooting, and a documented capstone that demonstrates usable SAP PM/EAM capability.

  • Complete an end-to-end capstone: validate a technical object, create a request/notification, plan and release an order, execute/confirm/complete it, and verify the history.
  • Create and schedule a preventive plan connected to the capstone asset, then interpret its due/call results.
  • Use standard lists or Fiori embedded analytics to investigate notification backlog, order status, breakdown or history information, and planned-versus-actual work.
  • Resolve at least three seeded defects spanning master data, notification quality, order status, confirmation/completion, and preventive-plan scheduling; submit structured trouble tickets for any true system blockers.
  • Produce a concise project-readiness explanation of the corrective and preventive process, key master data, integration touchpoints, results, and business impact.

Ready for the next session when: Course complete. Learners should be able to demonstrate a controlled SAP S/4HANA Asset Management process, explain the decisions behind each document, and independently repeat and troubleshoot common PM/EAM workflows.
